Compass Classroom: huge sale, includes Homeschool Made Simple, Visual Latin, more

Compass Classroom is having a huge sale on their homeschool curriculum! One thing I plan to purchase is the above DVD series from veteran homeschooler and speaker Carole Joy Seid, called Homeschool Made Simple. I’ve watched the entire series twice, but at 40% off, I’ve decided I need to own it too!

Here are some of the other great things on sale:

Visual Latin is 30% off:

Modernity is 50% off…

and you can bundle it with Dav Raymond’s American History for 50% off that too!

Plus lots more! Go here to browse the sale.

20% off my VERY favorite planner (2016-2017 version) through March 31!

wellplanned1617

The Well-Planned Day is my absolute FAVORITE daily planner, and it’s on sale right now for 20% off! A few years ago I ditched my electronic planners and decided to go back to a paper planner, and it has been SO much better!

This is the specific planner I use; it runs from Summer 2016 – Summer 2017, and while it’s specifically targeted at full-time homeschooling parents, it would work well for afterschoolers or really anyone who has kids and needs to keep track of all their activities. Because, let-s be honest, if you’re a parent then you’re at least a part-time homeschooler! Planners are on sale for 20% off through March 31. You can actually take a look through the pages when you visit the website here.

You can also try the 2015-2016 school year planner for 50% off here, which would be a great way to see if you like the style of this planner.

Homeschool families: get a one-time discount on Sonlight curriculum

Sonlight is a homeschool curriculum that uses great books to teach core subjects in a “compelling, refreshing way”. We are homeschooling my 2nd grader this year, and have been extremely impressed with the Sonlight curriculum! It’s expensive, but well-worth it. Although there aren’t a lot of discounts available for this curriculum, anyone can  get $5 off a Sonlight purchase of $50 or more if you use my Rewards ID code, which is CB20393440. I know $5 isn’t a lot, but it’s better that no discount at all! This is a one-time discount for new Sonlight families.

Also, if you’re planning ahead, Sonlight often offers a January discount of $100 off a core to encourage new homeschooling families to either buy ahead or try switching from an old curriculum that’s not working for a given child.

Here are some reasons other parents love this curriculum (taken from the Sonlight website):
*    My children are getting a great education and loving it … at least most of the time! Sonlight is a literature-based curriculum, so we read tons of great books out loud together. The kids devour plenty of books on their own, too. We stay away from boring textbooks and really engage in what we’re learning.
*    That time spent reading together on the couch is creating some great memories–we learn so much about each other as we discuss the events, ideas and characters we discover.
*    With the Instructor’s Guides Sonlight provides, we can just open up the guide and do school every day without me spending much time planning. That gives us even more time to hang out … and keep up with the laundry.

Do you use Sonlight? I’d love to hear about your experience!

Review and giveaway: The Well Planned Day homeschool organizer

UPDATE: The winner is comment #108, Danalee. Thanks to all who entered!

Before I begin this review, I need to admit my bias: I LOVE planners. Love them. A good planner makes me feel like my life is about to become organized and streamlined. I’m a Type A person, and I love having written schedules, budget spreadsheets, etc. So when I saw the Well Planned Day homeschool organizer I knew I would love it…and I do! This fall will start our first year homeschooling my oldest daughter, while my youngest will be in public school for Kindergarten, so we have a lot of scheduling to do, and this planner will really be a lifesaver. (If you’re interested in why we’re homeschooling, this post echos my reasons pretty well.)

The Well Planned Day has an overview for each month, as shown above, and then each day is broken down into a list format so you can list the subjects you’re planning to cover that day and record attendance. I like how each month has a cut-out tab for easy flipping, and there are really interesting articles on family management and education for those moments when you find yourself stuck somewhere with nothing to read! There are tear-out shopping lists for each month, and there are report cards printed on cardstock for your children to keep. There are quotes from famous theologians, and there are weekly catechism notes. I cannot think of anything this planner doesn’t provide! Plus, it’s absolutely gorgeous!

Here are the features:

  • Spiral Bound with Three Hole Drilled to Fit into Binders
  • Over 264 Full Color Pages
  • Full Year Planner: July 2014 – June 2015
  • Home Management with weekly cleaning schedule, monthly projects, greeting card registry, and monthly budgeting.
  • Holiday Organization Section: Greeting card registry, activities and event schedules, gift giving, around town shopping, and internet shopping.
  • Organize and plan for up to 4 children in one convenient book.
  • Four Student Class Plans: Schedule each student’s class assignments.
  • Four Student Time Schedules: Track each day by the hour.
  • Weekly Schedule: Organize your week with class assignments, weekly priorities, prayer requests, dinner menu, and notes.
  • Month at a Glance: Plan field trips, enrichment activities and books to read
  • Semester Attendance & Progress Reports
  • Perforated Report Cards
  • Menu Planning: Plan weekly meals and conveniently shop with perforated shopping lists.
  • Family Worship: Read through the Bible in a year.
  • Insightful homeschool articles and tips to inspire you throughout the year.
  • and much more….

You can actually flip through images of the entire 2014-2015 planner here so you can see just how fantastic it is!

While this planner is technically for homeschooling families, it would adapt very easily to public school families as well.

You can purchase the Well Planned Day homeschool organizer for $26.95 here. I am sure you’ll love it as much as I do!

You can also save 30% on planner bundles, including the Large Family bundle, the College Prep bundle, the Busy Mom bundle and more!
