“An Elegant Façade,” by Kristi Ann Hunter

I recently had the chance to read An Elegant Façade, by Kristi Ann Hunter. This fiction book will be released on July 5, 2016, by Bethany House.

About this book (from the back cover):

Lady Georgina Hawthorne has worked tirelessly to seal her place as the Incomparable for her debut season. At her first London ball, she hopes to snag the attention of an earl.

With money and business connections, but without impeccable bloodlines, Colin McCrae is invited everywhere but accepted nowhere. When he first encounters the fashionable Lady Georgina, he’s irritated by his attraction to a woman who concerns herself only with status and appearance.

What Colin doesn’t know is that Georgina’s desperate social aspirations are driven by the shameful secret she harbors. Association with Colin McCrae is not part of Georgina’s plan, but as their paths continue to cross, they both must decide if the realization of their dreams is worth the sacrifices they must make.

Final Verdict:

If you’re looking for a historical fiction book to take to the beach this summer, “An Elegant Façade” would be a great choice! It’s an engaging story set in 1813 centering around Lady Georgina Hawthorne as she navigates the London season while trying to hide a secret that would possibly eliminate her chances at marriage. I really enjoyed the author’s treatment of Lady Georgina’s “secret, ” and while I don’t want to include spoilers, I will say that I had never thought of someone with her problem in a historical context and it was interesting to consider all of the unique problems that problem would entail. Also, this is the second book in a series, but I was able to thoroughly enjoy it even though I haven’t read the first book. Loved the characters, and finished this book in one sitting. Highly recommended.

If you’d like to check out An Elegant Façade it is currently on sale for $9.99 for the Kindle version. (Regularly $14.99.) If you prefer a paperback copy, it’s currently on sale for $8.56. Remember, Amazon’s prices can change at any time.
