Experience an Edwardian Christmas at the Titanic this year!

Experience an Edwardian Christmas at the Titanic Museum Attraction in Pigeon Forge this year! Step back in time and see how the Titanic Grand Staircase and ship would have been decorated in the 1912 Edwardian period. The entire ship will be lit up for Christmas with lights and Christmas trees galore. My family has always enjoyed seeing the Titanic at Christmas. I hope to make it up there this year, so stay tuned for our family’s review!

Titanic Museum Attraction: see the Wallace Hartley violin

There’s a special opportunity to see a rare Titanic artifact at the Titanic Museum Attraction in Pigeon Forge now through July 27: the Wallace Hartley violin. Here’s the information I received:

Pigeon Forge, Tenn. – For the first and only time in the United States, the iconic violin, depicted in Titanic-themed movies and actually used by Wallace Hartley on board Titanic, will be on display at the Titanic Museum Attractions in Pigeon Forge, TN.
According to Joslyn, this storied artifact will be unveiled to the American public on Wednesday, May 22 during a media conference at 10 a.m. at Titanic Museum Attraction in Pigeon Forge.  It will remain there until Saturday, July 27 before it travels to the Titanic Museum Attraction’s sister-location in Branson.  It will be on display in Branson,
Thursday, Aug. 1 through Thursday, Aug. 15 prior to it traveling back to England where it will be auctioned off by Henry Aldridge and Son on Saturday, Oct. 19. Widely regarded as the world’s leading experts in the sale of RMS Titanic memorabilia,

Henry Aldridge and Son have unparalleled experience in auctioning the rarest memorabilia ever to be offered and describe the Hartley Violin as “the Holy Grail.” “My visit to Pigeon Forge with the Hartley Violin is the culmination of nearly seven years of research,” said Alan Aldridge, Principal of Henry Aldridge and Son.  “I hope my visit to the Titanic Museum Attractions will enable their guests to understand the importance of the Wallace Hartley story.”

They also have an exhibit showcasing the stories of the 133 children who were on the Titanic. My children (above) really enjoyed getting to read the stories of some of the kids, and the new boarding passes with the scratch-off quizzes were fun!

Discover the 133 Children Stories of Titanic

The RMS Titanic sailed with 2,208 people on board – 133 of them were children. These were Titanic’s littlest heroes. What they saw, heard and felt from the moment they boarded the ship has been documented and visualized for the first time anywhere by the Titanic Museum Attractions in Branson, Missouri and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. This year-long, exclusive exhibit is a celebration of The Children of Titanic whose bravery, innocence and faith can be an inspiration to us all.

Are you a homeschooling mom? Titanic has a special homeschool admission rate of $12.50 from now until May (which includes an audioguide and tax). Reservations are required, and you can find more information here.

I am proud to be one of the Titanic Museum Attraction’s Mom Bloggers, and have visited there many times. (You can see all my Titanic experiences here.) My family and I will be visiting Titanic during Authors’ Week and I can’t wait!

Christmas at the Titanic: See it snow, plus great photo op with Father Christmas!

My family recently had the chance to tour the Titanic Museum Attraction, which is all decorated for Christmas! It’s beautiful! Plus, for the next three Saturdays (December 15, 22, and 29) at 7 p.m. your children will be able to see real snow off the bow of the ship and the arrival via horse-drawn carriage of Father Christmas (which is what the British passengers on the Titanic would have called Santa). It makes for a beautiful photo opportunity!

Here what it looks like when Father Christmas arrives:

Check the weather when dressing your kids, because this is an outside event. I dressed my babies warmly but they were still pretty cold!

Here’s what the Santa photos look like:

It all takes place to the left of the entrance, near the giant anchor:

You aren’t allowed to take cameras in to the Titanic Museum, so I can’t show you the pretty Christmas decorations, but inside the Children’s area is a place where you can have a photo made that you can then purchase in the gift shop. Here’s what that looks like, below. Also, when we were there Father Christmas was making the rounds and was available to be in your official photo.

Through December 31 the Titanic Museum is giving away a fabulous trip to Pigeon Forge that includes a Family Pass to experience Titanic’s 3rd Annual Ice Carving Competition (LIVE in the parking lot – January 19, 2013), 4 star accommodations for 2 nights at the Inn at Christmas Place for a family of four, 4 Tickets to Dixie Stampede’s Christmas Spectacular with a live Nativity, and 4 Tickets to Ripley’s Aquarium Gatlinburg (Voted the #1 Aquarium in the US by TripAdvisor!) Go here to enter, and good luck!

I am proud to be a Titanic Mom Blogger and want to officially say thanks to the Titanic Museum for providing me with admission to the Museum for my family plus a beautiful photo of my girls!

(UPDATE: The giveaway winner is #11 Melanie C. Congrats!)

2012 Thanksgiving Fireworks at Titanic Pigeon Forge – November 22, 2012 at 7:30 pm

A year of paying tribute to the 2,208 souls aboard Titanic comes to a dramatic and energetic conclusion this Thanksgiving at the Titanic Museum Attraction in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The night sky will be filled with a major fireworks show on November 22, 2012, to celebrate the lives and legacies of the ship’s passengers, crew and rescuers. It will be the largest fireworks event on the Smoky Mountain Parkway since the Titanic Museum Attraction’s grand opening in 2010.

Visitors to the Titanic Museum Attraction will also be able to view thousands of holiday lights, Edwardian-period decorations, costumed merry-markers, and a magical Gift Shoppe brimming with original, one-of-a-kind gifts.

Note: this would be a GREAT event to attend if you’re going to be at the outlet malls awaiting Black Friday!

Real Snow off the Bow! Part of Titanic’s Christmas in a Winter Wonderland – November 22-24 and December 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29 at 7:00 pm
Free in Parking Lot – Bring your Cameras!

It will snow again this holiday season in Pigeon Forge; Titanic Museum Attraction guarantees it. Starting Thursday, November 22, it will snow – yes, REAL snow – at the Titanic. The snow is part of the museum’s “Christmas in a Winter Wonderland,” which is dedicated to honoring and celebrating the lives of the 2,208 passengers and crew of the Titanic.

Each night, November 22-24 and every Saturday in December, the Titanic will produce real, falling snow off the bow of the ship. AND…the entire ship inside and out will be aglow with Christmas lights and decorations

I am proud to be one of the Titanic Museum Attraction’s Mom Bloggers, and have visited there many times. (You can see all my Titanic experiences here.) My family and I are heading to the Titanic Museum Attraction again this Christmas season to see the snow!

To celebrate these events the Titanic Museum Attraction is allowing me to give away a family pass to their museum! Here’s how to win:
