The intrepid Phileas Fogg with his loyal valet, Passepartout, voyage from Victorian London through the Indian subcontinent, to Asia and across the Pacific to America on a wager that he will return in precisely 80 days. Literally, a theatrical tour-de-force.

Live, full-length opera performed in Italian with projected English translations. The Tennessee Premiere of Donizetti’s 1835 masterpiece! Two Rival Queens… A Thirst for Power… The Scandal of a Century! Elizabeth I, fearing her rival in love and politics, has imprisoned her cousin, Mary Queen of Scots, for 18 years. What happens when Elizabeth and Mary finally meet face to face? A riveting, explosive showdown featuring unspeakable insults and vocal fireworks! Fighting for her crown and survival, Elizabeth sends Mary to the executioner’s scaffold.
Admission to the final dress rehearsal is free to students of all ages (with accompanying adults paying $5 at the door) and to Mary Queen of Scots ticket holders. Adults without tickets to the Friday or Sunday performance MUST accompany a student for admittance (be prepared to show student ID if an adult); adults may not attend without a student. Please note, concessions are closed. Seating is open and attendees may come and go as they wish.

Compliments of the Aslan Foundation, Knoxville Opera is offering a limited number of free student tickets to their main stage production of Mary Queen of Scots on Friday, April 28 (7:30 PM) and Sunday, April 30 (2:30 PM). This is an excellent opportunity for students (intermediate school through college) to experience the magic of a complete opera with spectacular music, sets, costumes and thrilling performers. Giveaway: Win early-entry passes to the Children’s Consignment Sale at East Maryville Baptist April 7-8

East Maryville Baptist Church is having its Spring Children’s Consignment Sale April 7-8, and I have two sets of early-entry passes to give away for the presale April 6!

Regular sale hours are Friday April 7 from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. PLUS 5 -8 p.m. and then Saturday April 8 from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. On Saturday all items without a red dot are half price. They accept credit/debit cards and cash only. The church is located at 1150 Brown School Road in Maryville.

Easter 2017: egg hunts and other activities in Blount County

Here is a list of Easter egg hunts and other fun activities in Blount County this 2017 Easter season. Please comment below if you have one to add!

April 1

Faith Encounter will be hosting its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 1st. There will be free food, inflatables for the kids to play on, and of course, an Easter egg hunt!  The fun begins at 4pm. More info here.

April 8

First United Methodist Alcoa’s Family Fun Day begins with a 9 a.m. pancake breakfast followed by craft time and pictures with the Easter Bunny (bring your camera). There will be a very special telling of the Resurrection of Jesus, plus a huge Egg Hunt and prizes. More info here.

April 9

First Baptist Church of Maryville will have an Easter Egg Hunt for toddlers through 3rd grade in the Greenbelt Park (across the street from the church). There will be crafts, games, food trucks and more for all ages! Feel free to bring chairs, blankets, egg baskets, bicycles, and any other family games! More info here.

April 14

Fairview United Methodist will have its annual Easter egg hunt at 2:30 p.m. Event includes a cookout, music, egg hunt, inflatables, and fun! More info here.

RIO Revolution Church will host its 3rd Annual Light the Night from 6 – 8 p.m. This event will feature a glow-in-the-dark egg hunt. More info here.

April 15

Blount Community Church will have an Easter celebration at 10 a.m. & 2 p.m. They will have an egg hunt, snacks, crafts, games, and prizes. More info here.

The Jaycees’ Easter Festival will be on Saturday, April 15th at Springbrook Park. The free egg hunt begins at noon. “Age Groups are 3 and under, 4 to 7, and 8 to 12. Easter Games from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm (nominal charge – tickets are 50 cents each). Inflatable Playland 10:00 am to 2:00 pm (Arm bands includes 6 tickets for $10). Pap Paw’s Blue Barrel Train Express around the park from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm (Arm band gets you one ride or you can use 4 tickets to ride it). Concessions: Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Chips and Drinks (Maybe Italian Ice or Hawaiian Shaved Ice).” More info here.
