Discounts for “A Christmas Carol” at the Clarence Brown Theatre, plus come see my daughter as Tiny Tim!

This year’s performance of “A Christmas Carol” at the Clarence Brown Theatre is the best one yet! Okay, maybe I am a bit partial since this year both of my daughters will be performing in the show, including my youngest who is double-cast as Tiny Tim (below)! I would LOVE for everyone to make the time to go see this amazing show. If cost is a factor, here are a few discounts that will help!

This year ALL children’s tickets (age 5-12) are $10! You must call the CBT Box Office directly for this discount, as it is not available when purchasing tickets online. Also, University of Tennessee students can purchase tickets for $5 and other university students can purchase $15 tickets with valid student ID. Tickets are also discounted for seniors, UT faculty/staff, and military (read on for military info.)

The Clarence Brown Theatre also participates in the Penny4Arts program, where a child can attend for just $0.01 when accompanying an adult who has purchased a ticket. This discount is only good at the following shows: December 2, December 6-8, and December 14-16 (show at 7:30 PM). Better yet, the CBT generously also offers the accompanying adult a 50% discount on their ticket! Advance reservations are required, so please call the box office M-F 12-5 with 24 hours notice. Here’s the info on the Penny4Arts program on the CBT’s website, as well as the Penny4Arts official website.

Adults 18 and older (21 and older on opening night) can volunteer as ushers and see the show for FREE! You’ll just need to get there an hour ahead of time to hand out programs, scan tickets, etc. There are volunteer spots available for most nights, and signing up is super easy! Go here to find out how to volunteer.

Twice a year, the CBT provides families the opportunity to have dinner and see a performance for only $10/person.

The purpose of the CBT Family Feast is to promote the fading practice of family dinners and to celebrate community through theatre. The only stipulation is that patrons must attend as a family unit, however “family” is defined for them. The Family Feast for “A Christmas Carol” will take place December 6. Here’s more info.

The Clarence Brown Theatre welcomes U.S. military personnel, spouses and children as well as U.S. veterans, and proudly participates in the Blue Star Theatres program. The CBT offers discounted tickets to active-duty military and their immediate families, as well as retired veterans. Contact the Box Office directly at (865) 974-5161 for reservations and please identify yourself as a Blue Star Theatre participant when you come to the Box Office. This offer is based on availability and cannot be combined with other offers. Limited to two tickets per household. More info is available here.

Okay, I’m late in posting this and the Pay What You Wish Preview Wednesday is over for “A Christmas Carol,” but I’m still listing it because it’s a great opportunity for a discount for all future CBT shows! The Wednesday before Opening Night for each CBT show there will be a Pay What You Wish Preview Wednesday (and sometimes a Thursday as well!) The only catch is that you have to purchase tickets directly from the Box Office the day of the show, so this deal is pending availability. The Box Office opens at 12 p.m. M-F. The reason I didn’t post about this for “A Christmas Carol” is because it was already sold out before the day of the show (since you can purchase regular-price tickets ahead of time)! We will be taking advantage of this deal to see “Around the World in Eighty Days” this spring!

Please let me know if you hear of any more deals for the Clarence Brown Theatre, and I truly hope you enjoy this show as much as my family has!
