Fall Festival and Trunk -or-Treat listing for 2016!

I asked my friends on Facebook for fun things to do with kids in Blount (and Knox) County on October 30 and 31, and they responded with a lot of great events! Here are the comments I received. Please share on Facebook if you know of an event that’s not listed here!

“Maryville First United Methodist Church is having their fall festival on Sunday 2-4 pm. There will be inflatables, trunk-or-treat, free hot dogs, etc. It is always a lot of fun!”

“We’re having one at St. Mark UMC with a Trunk or Treat, games, hot dogs, etc.) from 4-7!”

Sycamore Tree UMC on Clydesdale Street next to TNT Gymnastics is having a Family Fall Festival from 4-6 p.m.

“East Maryville is having their Fall Festival Sunday night 5-7. It is so much fun!”

Blount Community Church is having a Hoot -N- Holler from 5 – 8:30 p.m.  There will be a band, food, trunk or treat, and more.

Free meals for Halloween: breakfast at IHOP, dinner at McAlister’s & more

Every October 31 my kids and I go to IHOP for their free scary face pancakes. It has become a tradition! If you’re not a homeschooler, you can still get there right at 7 a.m. and be sure to make it to school on time! You can get free scary face pancakes from 7-10 a.m. Here’s all the info, from IHOP’s website.


From October 29 – 31, get up to 2 free kid’s meals with the purchase of an adult entree. Valid for kids 12 and under who dressed in their costumes. Dine-in only.


Also, if you’re a Zaxby’s Kids Club member, check your mailbox for a coupon for a free Halloween kids’ meal! If you’re not a member, it’s free to sign up, and you can do so here or at your local store. Kids 10 and under get a free meal on their birthdays, as well as lots of freebies and treats throughout the year!

Dollar Days 2016 at the Knoxville Zoo!

Zoo Knoxville will be offering $1 admission with the donation of a non-perishable food item or pet food Nov. 10-13, 2016, during their Dollar Days event.
During the Dollar Days event, general zoo admission tickets for ages four and up are $1 each and parking is free. To ensure a safe and pleasant experience for Dollar Days guests, a limited number of tickets are available for each day, and advance online purchase is required. Tickets can be purchased online at beginning at noon on Monday, Oct. 31, 2016. Limit 6 tickets per order.

Dollar Days attendees should also bring a non-perishable food item or bagged or canned dog or cat food donation in addition to each ticket to help other local non-profit organizations Mission of Hope, Young-Williams Animal Center, and Knox County Office on Aging’s Knox PAWS program.

Dollar Days tickets are valid only for the date printed on the ticket and no rain checks will be offered for this special event. Tickets will not be sold at the zoo’s ticket window on the days of the event. Dollar Days will take place rain or shine.

Antiques, Collectibles, and More Annual Benefit Sale at New Providence today!

Come shop antiques, collectibles, furniture and more at New Providence Presbyterian this weekend! The women of the monthly community benefit sale pull items all year to be included in this annual event. All proceeds are donated to local charities and nonprofits. You’ll find vintage crocks and pottery, tinware, China/crystal, other housewares, furniture, men’s vintage and new camping items, vintage and clothing and jewelry, linens, Christmas and holiday items.

The sale will be open today (Friday, 10/7) from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. and tomorrow (Saturday, 10/8) from 8:30 – 11 a.m.
