A trick for cheap audiobooks from Amazon: Audible narration
August 28, 2015
Update: this trick may not work on mobile devices. If it’s not working for you, try using a desktop or laptop.
My husband has had The Martian, by Andy Weir, on his to-read list for a very long time now. There’s a waiting list for this book at the library, and he didn’t want to spring for the full price of the book right now. (We often purchase books AFTER we’ve read them and they’ve reached the status of purchase-worthy.) When I saw that it was on sale for $1.99 for Kindle, I jumped at the chance to purchase it, although he’s not really a Kindle guy. Here’s why. He does love audiobooks – as do we all in my family – and Amazon sometimes has a little trick that allows you save big bucks on audio versions of books that you’ve purchased for Kindle. It’s called Audible Narration. Amazon allows you to add on the audio version of a book to a Kindle book purchase, often for much less than the price of just the audiobook alone! Here’s how that worked for The Martian. Along with the Kindle sale price of $1.99, Amazon is offering the add-on of Audible narration for $2.99. See the graphic below:
So, instead of paying $26 for the audiobook version of this book, we paid $5 total for the Kindle book and the audiobook! Plus, what’s even better is that through the miracle of technology, the two versions are linked, so you can stop reading and start listening and Amazon knows exactly where you are in the book! Go here to check it out. Once you’ve purchased the audiobook through Audible narration they walk you through the process of listening, step by step.
If you’re ever interested in an audiobook, check on the Kindle price first, because sometimes you can save a lot by purchasing the Kindle + Audible narration!
