The East TN History Fair is this Saturday, August 15: free events, music, food, & more!

This Saturday is the East TN History Fair downtown! My family LOVES going to this event every year. There are so many fun things to do that you’ll want to plan to stay all day!

  • “History Hound” Dog Costume Contest: 9:30 – Registration, 10:15 – Judging. Fabulous prizes provide by PetSafe!
  • Barehanded Base Ball Game with the Tennessee Association of Vintage Base Ball at the World’s Fair Park

  • Friends of the Knox County Public Library Book Sale featuring books on American history and regional culture, vintage children’s books and comics from the 1980s
  • Display of Horace Kephart’s books and ‘V’ shaped bark basket
  • Knoxville, Then and Now show by members of the Art Market Gallery, as well as a special memorial show by artist, Vivian Shoemaker, of stained glass works of East Tennessee landscapes
  • Market Square Farmer’s Market from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
  • Meet the Authors Book Signings with Allen Coggins, Jack Neely, Ron Rader, Bill Landry, Michael Williams, Alan Lang, Linda Gass, Daniel Paulin, Cheryl Baker, and Eva Wike
  • “Southern Exposure Film Festival” presented by the Tennessee Archive of Moving Image and Sound at the Tennessee Theatre
