City of Maryville’s Movies in the Park: full schedule!

The City of Maryville’s Movies in the Park summer series kicks off this Friday at 7:30 p.m. with the classic “The Wizard of Oz.” There will also be a costume contest and ice cream! All movies will be shown at the Theatre in the Park behind the Blount County Courthouse. For more info, here’s the FB event page.

Here is the full schedule of movies for the summer:

July 10 – The Wizard of Oz
July 17 – Jurassic Park (1993)
July 24 – The Sandlot
July 31 – Penguins of Madagascar
August 7 – Big Hero 6

This year, before every movie, DJ Chip Fuller will entertain with tunes and fun. Tonight is a very special opening night with free cones of Mayfield’s Yellow Brick Road Ice cream and free Munckins from Dunkin’ Donuts in Maryville.

For all to enjoy the event:
Picnics, blankets and lawn chairs are welcome. 
Bring bug spray to show the bugs their boundaries.
Be sure to bring extra blankets to keep toasty throughout the movie!
No concessions will be available, but feel free to bring your own coolers and picnic baskets.
Weather Delays/ Cancellations
Weather related delays or cancellations will be communicated through the following outlets:

• No smoking – including e-cigarettes or tobacco products 

• No alcohol
• No glass containers
• No pop-up tents or other structures
• Please turn off cell phones
• No illuminated devices during the movie except in the device zone (pavilion)At the discretion of the City, a movie may be shut down due to the following weather related conditions:
• Pending or present lightning or thunder. (The theater will remain closed until 30 minutes after the last sighting of lighting.)
• Storm warnings or tornado warnings have been issued
• Other weather conditions that present a safety concern such as heavy winds or hail
• Rain – if damage to electronic equipment is probableIn non-severe weather, Guests may be asked to leave the theater and seek shelter in the restrooms, a picnic shelter or their vehicle.  
In extreme severe weather, Guests may be evacuated to a pre-determined location.
