Review: Say Goodbye to Survival Mode, by Crystal Paine (Money Saving Mom) plus FREE first chapter

I recently had the chance to read Say Goodbye to Survival Mode: Say Goodbye to Survival Mode: 9 Simple Strategies to Stress Less, Sleep More, and Restore Your Passion for Life, by Crystal Paine (otherwise known as Money Saving Mom!). This nonfiction book will be released tomorrow, January 21, 2014 by Thomas Nelson.

About this book (from the back cover):

Calling the super busy, the stressed out, the overtired.

You know you’re made for a more fulfilling life. With this book, you’ll know where to start.

You wake up tired. Your to-do list is too long. The commitments—and the laundry—are piling up, but your energy keeps dwindling. You feel like you’re simply making it through the days, not living or enjoying any part of them.

In Say Goodbye to Survival Mode, you’ll find both practical ideas and big-picture perspective that will inspire you to live life on purpose. As a wife, mother of three, and founder of the wildly successful blog MoneySavingMom.com, Crystal Paine has walked the road from barely surviving to living with intention. With the warmth and candor of a dear friend, she shares what she’s learned along the way, helping you:

  • feel healthier and more energetic by setting priorities and boundaries
  • eliminate stress with savvy management of your time, money, and home
  • get more done by setting realistic goals and embracing discipline
  • rediscover your passions—and the confidence to pursue them

Packed with straightforward solutions you’ll use today and inspirational stories you’ll remember for years, Say Goodbye to Survival Mode is a must for any woman who’s ever longed for the freedom to enjoy life, not just survive it.

My Verdict:

I have read Crystal Payne’s blog, Money Saving Mom, for years now, and have always enjoyed her clear, encouraging writing style. I was pleased to be able to review her last book, The Money Saving Mom’s Budget (which is currently on sale for $10!), and when I heard Crystal was releasing a new book, I knew I had to read it. I’m glad to say that it is just as fantastic as I’d hoped it would be! Crystal shares very honestly about her journey from an overwhelmed, overtired young mom to the organized, goal-achieving person she is today. For a blogger who averages 1.5 million readers every month she is very humble, and I love that she doesn’t claim to be good at everything; in fact, one of the ways she helps moms work toward having a more peaceful existence is by eliminating some of the things that we attempt – but don’t personally have the aptitude for. In her case, these areas to eliminate included decorating, gardening, sewing, and even complicated cooking. The first chapter of the book is available to read for free here, and I suggest you take a look. It is so freeing to have an “expert” tell you that you don’t have to do it all! I think you’ll really enjoy reading this book, and as we all begin the new year with resolutions to eat better, save money, do more etc., I think this book will show you how to give yourself grace while at the same time giving you a blueprint to start making and setting realistic goals to actually accomplish great things. Highly recommended!

You can get a FREE 40-page printable packet that goes along with the book. It includes menu planning printables, shopping list printables, house cleaning checklists, a printable daily docket to help you keep your home and life in order, printable 2014 monthly calendar pages and more! Here’s how to get your free printables.

If you’d like to check out Say Goodbye to Survival Mode it is currently on sale for $14.99 for the Kindle version right now, which is 35% off. (Regularly $22.99.) If you prefer a physical copy the hardcover version is currently on sale for $17.36. Remember, Amazon’s prices can change at any time.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the author for review purposes. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
