Review and giveaway: Papa Murphy’s take-and-bake pizza

Every other Monday my husband invites his interns over for dinner. For dinner this week we had the chance to try Papa Murphy’s take-and-bake pizza.

PMentrance

When I headed to the Maryville Papa Murphy’s store, I had not called an order in (which you can do) and my dinner was still ready in less than 5 minutes! I chose the new Herb Chicken Mediterranean pizza, and I got a family size so I would have enough for everyone. Brandon, who took my order, asked if I liked flat crust, as that’s how the pizza is usually prepared. I was so glad he asked, because flat crust is not my personal favorite, so he changed it to regular crust on the spot. All of their pizzas are easily changed to fit your tastes.

Papa Murphy’s serves pizza in three sizes. We had 4 adults eating and still had pizza left over for lunch the next day. The family size is the best deal, in my opinion.

PMpizzasizes

My pizza was hand-crafted by a couple of very polite staff members! The Herb Chicken Mediterranean comes with sun-dried tomatoes and spinach, and it was amazing. More on that in a second.

PMgirlworking

I also chose a couple of Mini Murph pizza kits so my daughters could make their own single-serve pizzas.

And, finally, we got a S’mores pizza for dessert.

There were other options we may get next time, like salads and cheesy bread. They also have other desserts like cookie dough, cinnamon wheels, or  dessert pizza (apple or cherry).

PMsaladsdesserts

After everything was ready, I headed home to start baking. Papa Murphy’s sells take-and-bake pizzas, which means the toppings are on fresh, uncooked dough, so that you can eat your pizza the minute it comes out of the oven! Each item I had took about 10 minutes to bake. Here’s our dinner:

I put the Herb Chicken Mediterranean pizza in the oven first, and my kids started creating their Mini Murph pizzas. They had a blast! The kits were so easy and fun, and they’re only $3 each, which is a great price for a kid’s meal.

Two of my husband’s interns, Jamie and Julie, arrived and joined in the fun.

The pizza tasted amazing! Even my husband, who is very specific in his tastes, really liked it.

The S’mores dessert pizza was a big hit with everyone too!

So, we are new Papa Murphy’s fans. We are definitely going back, and will be taking advantage of some of the great deals they offer. Here are the ones I noticed:

PMdeals

Box Top Tuesday will probably be happening for us next week. I love that the Maryville store supports two local schools, Fairview Elementary and Union Grove Elementary.

PMboxtopcompetition

They also have a text club you can join to receive coupons!

Plus, there are sometimes fun holiday-themes pizzas to try, like the Jack-O-Lantern pizza at Halloween:

And in February, the Valentine’s Day heart-shaped pizza:

Review: the Wet-Stop3 potty training alarm, plus a Potty Monkey giveaway!

wetstop

UDATE: The winner of the giveaway is comment #82, Theresa! Thanks to all who entered!

My daughter, who is 4, has recently begun nighttime potty training. She has been potty trained during the daytime for years now, but both of my children are such deep sleepers that they were unable to potty train successfully at night. We successfully potty trained my older daughter a few years back using a nighttime sensor that woke her up and eventually taught her body how to successfully wait until the morning to go potty. However, the system we used was messy and cumbersome, and I wasn’t a huge fan. (I was a fan of the results, just not the product itself!) So when I saw that PottyMD (makers of the Potty Monkey that moms know and love) offered a bedwetting alarm that seemed simple and clean, I was eager to try it out. The Wet-Stop3 comes in three colors, and we chose pink, since we’re all very girly around here. We have been using it for a little over a week and I’m so very pleased with the results! Here’s the official product description, and then I’ll share our experience.

wetstop3colors

Wet-Stop3: a Vibrating Bedwetting Alarm and a Traditional Bedwetting Alarm, All in One.

There are many features for the Wet-Stop3: 5 variable alarms, alarm and/or vibrating capabilities, flashing LED button, magnetic shirt fastener, uses 2 AAA batteries, replaceable sensor, easy to dry, easy to attach sensor, 2-step turn off process, instructions in six languages, and a 1 year manufacturer’s warranty against defects. The Wet-Stop3 comes with a reward system with chart and star stickers and the “The Complete Bedwetting Book” on CD. You may also now purchase an extra sensor for the Wet-Stop3.

Wet-Stop3 is convenient as well as effective. The Wet-Stop3 reacts immediately to the first few drops of moisture, teaching the child to stop the flow of urine before the bed becomes wet. During this learning process, dry underpants will be needed but the family will be spared the bother of remaking the entire bed. In less than six months, many children will no longer require use of the Wet-Stop3.

Please check with your insurance company as many insurances are now covering enuresis alarms. Use HCPCS code S8270 when contacting your insurance company.

20140128-131345.jpg

I have been putting off the nighttime potty training process, mainly because I really love sleep, but we were reaching the end of our Pull-Up supply and I figured it was probably time. The night we started the process, my daughter put on the Wet-Stop3 and then used a Pull-Up over it (which is not necessarily what the official instructions said to do, but it’s working for us.) The alarm went off three times the first night, two times the next night, and then one time per night for about a week. When I heard the alarm over the baby monitor I met my daughter in the bathroom and helped her change into a new Pull-Up. I was really pleased to see progress so quickly, as I am well aware that sometimes it can take months! We are now on night three of no alarm, and my daughter asked last night to stop wearing the alarm. I’ve agreed, with the caveat that we can continue to go alarm-free as long as her Pull-Ups are dry. I have been SO pleased with the Wet-Stop3. It has been simple and not at all messy. Plus, it was so easy to detach and reattach that I was able to get back to sleep quickly during the night, which was very important to me. My daughter really liked the star stickers and progress chart that came with the Wet-Stop3 (see above photo). I highly recommend this product to anyone whose children need a little help with potty training (ages 4 and older, according to the official product information.)

The Wet-Stop3 system retails for $50 and can be purchased on the PottyMD website.

Giveaway: Let’s Play Football book and app for kids

UPDATE: The winner is #8, Meaghan M. Thanks to all who entered!

Let’s Play Football, arriving just in time for Super Bowl season, is a story- and character-based book and a FREE APP, both of which introduce the fundamentals of football to kids ages 2 to 6 (and their parents). This is the first of a planned “Let’s Play Sports”  series of media products for kids and families from Andy Blackman Hurwitz (founder of Baby Loves Disco) and Jon Richter, two dad-coaches.

The book and app feature a papa bear and his two young cubs who are learning about how the game is played as they watch the “Lions” and “Bears.” You’ll recognize the bear players’ names and personalities, and you’ll find it fun to hear pro ESPN football announcer Ron Jaworski giving the play-by-play. All in all, it’s a very cute gift for kids.

For more information, visit the website, download the FREE app, or like the Let’s Play Sports Facebook page. The book is currently available in hardcover for $13.99.

Here’s a video that will tell you a little more:

The folks from Let’s Play Football are letting me give a copy of the new book to one of you! Here’s how to win.
