UPDATE: The winner is #95, Audrey G. Thanks to all who entered!
My family spent last weekend decorating for Fall and getting out all our Halloween and Thanksgiving stories and movies. We have a new set to add to the mix: the new DVD set that Scholastic has available called The Halloween Collection, Volume 2. We’re on Fall Break, and watching some movies here and there, and I love knowing that although my girls are getting “screen time,” they are watching movies based on books, which helps feed their love of reading. This 3-disc set contains three DVDs that each contain movie versions of classic children’s storybooks. (If you don’t know about my love for Scholastic Storybook Treasures DVDs, you can read more here.)
These DVDs are recommended for children ages 3-9, and a few of them were too scary for my 4- and 6-year-olds right now; you know your children best and can decide whether you should pre-screen these stories to determine the best age to watch.
Here’s info on all the stories in this collection:
THE HALLOWEEN STORIES COLLECTION, VOLUME 2 (SRP $24.95) includes 14 stories perfect for early and pre-readers on All Hallows Eve. Though filled with skeletons, witches and more seasonal spooks, families can encourage creativity and music appreciation with the classic sing-along Dem Bones, learn about Latin American holidays with The Day of the Dead, and delight in the not so spooky-ooky stories of Teeny-Tiny and the Witch-Woman. The three DVDs in this ready-made library of Halloween tales are:
The Day Of The Dead…And More Halloween Tales – The DVD also includes these animated stories: The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything; Kitten’s First Full Moon; and Fletcher and the Falling Leaves.
NOTE: This DVD is also available as a single title ($14.95 SRP).
The second DVD is Dem Bones…And More Sing-Along Stories – The DVD also includes these animated stories: Dinosaur Bones; Hush Little Baby; The Fox Went Out on a Chilly Night; and The Erie Canal.
The final DVD is Teeny-Tiny And The Witch-Woman…And More Spooky Stories - The DVD also includes these animated stories: The Boy with Two Shadows; Los Gatos Black on Halloween; What’s Under My Bed? and King of the Cats
Author interviews, including Kevin Henkes, Bob Barner and Linda Williams – never before available on DVD
