The Tennessee Valley Fair will be September 6-15 of this year, and my family is so excited about attending! Remember, tickets cost less if you purchase them by August 31. There are also some great discount days that I’ve listed here. The fair is always adding new events that are free with your paid admission. Here are just a few of the events that are new for 2013:
- Marvelous Mutts - A Canine Spectacular!
Showtimes – All 10 Days; See Guidebook for Info
The Marvelous Mutts, A Canine Spectacular, is a thrilling dog sport entertainment show that showcases some of the world’s finest canine athletes. The dogs amaze audiences as they flip and fly to snatch flying discs out of the air, race through obstacle courses with breathtaking speed, and launch themselves off a dock to catch a toy before it splashes into a pool of water. - Kiddie Land Fun Tent – Presented by Wendys of Knoxville
Kiddie Land (Next to Little Ponderosa Zoo) – All 10 Days
Features free entertainment for children ages 2 – 12 years old. Enjoy our Thank-A-Farmer magic show each night at 7:30 pm, mascot parties, sing-a-longs, storytelling, face painting, live arts and crafts and much more.
- “Best Of” Fair Food Competition
Jacob Building’s Culinary Arts Stage – September 6 – 4:00 PM
Watch as our concessionaires vie for the title of “Best Fair Food” – Celebrity Judges Frank Murphy from Star 102.1 FM and Katie Roach from WBIR Ch. 10 will judge the culinary creations.
- Lego Extravaganza -Tournament of Champions
Kerr Building – September 14 – 11:00 AM
Our Lego Extravaganza has been a wildly popular new event at the Fair since it’s inception in 2011. This year, we are inviting winners from our first competition on Sept 7 to return for a “Tournament of Champions” – Watch the best Lego builders in East Tennessee compete for the title of “Lego Extravaganza Champion 2013!”
- Agventure Scavenger Hunt – Presented by Wendy’s of Knoxville & Fruit Shoot
Livestock Barns – All 10 Days
This interactive hands-on scavenger hunt allows children (2-12 years old) to experience agriculture like never before. Participants will obtain a map that will lead them to specific educational exhibits (cattle, horticulture, poultry, tractors, rabbits, etc.) around the fairgrounds. When all stations are complete, participants will receive a special prize from Wendy’s of Knoxville for participating!
- Color for the Cure – Benefits Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Knoxville Affiliate
Kiddie Land Fun Tent
Sunday, September 8: 3:00 – 5:00 PM
Live coloring event just for kids! For every page that is colored, the Tennessee Valley Fair will make a contribution to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Knoxville Affiliate. Plus, enjoy a mini-mascot party featuring Jasper the Rooster, B97.5’s Buzz Bee, Tennessee Smokies’ Slugger & Diamond, Wendy’s Frosty and more.
- Pinterest Interest Contest
