Donate bras by March 29 to help fight human trafficking

March 21, 2012

I’ve posted about the wonderful organization Free the Girls before; now there is another local opportunity to help out.

From Fairview United Methodist Church:

“As you know sometime back we collected gently used bras for Free the Girls.  This organization has now been featured on CNN  (check the organization out at The bras will be shipped to Mozambique and will go toward helping women who are coming out of human trafficking!
Recently LR International has donated shipping of this first round of bras!  This is huge!!!!  Right now we have about 6,000 ready to go and since the shipping is FREE we want to collect as many as possible.  If you can there are 2 ways you might help:
1.    Bring any gently used bras to Roxanna at the Fairview UMC office by Thurs. March 29. Fairview is located at 2508 Old Niles Ferry Road.
2.    If you can help pack and sort, volunteers are needed to count and pack on March 29 at 7 pm at Broadway UMC.  If we have enough people, it should only take about an hour.
Once this shipment goes out we will continue to collect bras but what an opportunity God has given us RIGHT NOW with this free shipping!  Help us make a difference!
If you have questions – give me a call or send an email:  Roxanna 983-2080 ext. 106 or”

Thanks, Renee, for sharing!

Here’s more info on the organization:
Can the old bras in the back of your underwear drawer help fight modern-day slavery? Free The Girls says, “YES!” Free The Girls, a new cause-focused company centered around fighting human trafficking, is asking ladies to gather up their gently used bras—and ask friends, family, co-workers and local businesses to do the same.

You can also mail your bras directly to:
Free The Girls LLC
8200 S. Quebec St. #A3-137
Centennial, CO 80112

More Info:

“The bras are sent directly to a safehouse in Mozambique for women who have been rescued out of slavery,” says Kimba Langas, Co-Founder of Free The Girls. “The girls are given the bras as starting inventory for their own micro-business selling the bras. So something that has given us “support” can provide support to other women in need. It’s all about creating opportunities.”
