Thank you to the Presbyterian Women of the Church (PWC) at New Providence!

A big thank you to the Presbyterian Women of the Church (PWC) group at New Providence for having me speak about couponing at their meeting last night! Plus, a huge thanks to them for giving a generous donation to a nonprofit of my choice! I am thrilled to be able to send their donation to my friend Hannah Sterling who is a missionary in Haiti at an orphanage called God’s Planet. I am so pleased to be able to contribute to the fantastic work she’s doing there! Many of you know Hannah and read her wonderful blog, Where He Leads, and if you’re feeling moved to give to support her work in Haiti you can send checks attention to her at the following address. They’ll be deposited in a bank stateside that she can access in Haiti.

She’s at:

Hannah Sterling

P.O. Box 4878

Maryville, TN 37802

Or if you would like to receive a tax-deductible receipt from God’s Planet, you can send your donation through them (make sure to put her name in the memo line) to:
God’s Planet
P.O. Box 235
Rockford, TN, 37853

You can also support her missionary work by purchasing her jewelry at The Paper Bag Boutique.

Now, some of you know I don’t do “coupon seminars,” mainly because I want to spend most of my time focused solely on my children and because I don’t do this for a living. However, I’ve had a couple other requests and I’m thinking about saying yes in exchange for a donation to a nonprofit like God’s Planet. That appeals to me! We’ll see…

Giveaway: win four passes to the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus. Five winners!

True story: I was in the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus once. It was when I was four years old, and they were premiering the Living Unicorn. I’ll have to tell you about it sometime, but my job was basically to ride around the rings in a car that was being chased by clowns. It was a traumatizing fun experience. I’m still not really big on clowns…

But, I’ve always loved the circus, and now my daughters do too!

Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus is bringing its Barnum Bash show to the Knoxville Civic Coliseum March 1 – 4, and I’m so pleased that the lovely folks at Feld Entertainment have given me passes to give away to you all! First, here’s a deal for everyone:

You can currently purchase tickets at KnoxvilleTickets.com or by phone at 865-656-4444 or 877-995-9961. Mention code FAMILY for $5 off! (Not valid on VIP, VIP Floor or front row seating.)

TICKET PRICES:
$60.00 (Front Row)
$55.00 (VIP Floor)
$35.00 (VIP)
$25.00
$20.00
$15.00

Dates/Times:

Thursday March 1 and Friday March 2 at 7:00PM

Saturday March 3 and Sunday March 4 at 1:00PM and 5:00PM

Now for the giveaway…

I am giving away five sets of four passes each; these passes can be exchanged for tickets at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum box office, and are good for all reserved seating tickets except for front row and VIP tickets. You’ll want to redeem passes as early as possible to get the best seats, which is why I’m doing this giveaway so early! Here’s how to win one of the five sets of passes:

Required Entry:

Leave a comment on this post and let me know if you’ve ever been to the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus. That’s it! (If you’re reading this on Facebook/Twitter hop on over to thriftychristy.com)

Additional Optional Entries:

You can do each of the following things for an additional entry in the giveaway. You can only do each of these once, for a possible total of 5 entries. Please leave a separate comment for each method of entry.

This giveaway ends at midnight EST on Thursday January 26. I will choose a winner on Friday January 27 using random.org and will contact them via email. Giveaway open to US readers only.

Disclosure: I received passes to the circus for my family plus an additional 20 passes from Feld Entertainment to share with my readers. All opinions are my own.

Here are two free books for Kindle readers:

The Lady of Bolton Hill by Elizabeth Camden. I’m really excited about reading this one!

Princess Callie and the Totally Amazing Talking Tiara (Callie Chronicles) by Daisy Piper, which looks like it may be for tween girls. I’ll probably read it anyway 🙂

Remember to check the price on each of these as it can increase at any time. If you, like me, don’t have a Kindle, you can download one of the free Kindle reading apps here.

Giveaway: win a Dino Dan prize pack from Kidtoons!

January’s Kidtoons movie is Dino Dan with a special feature called Mighty Machines: Ride the Mountain Rails! Here’s what they’re about:

Dino Dan
Follow the adventures of paleontologist-in-training Dan Henderson as he imagines dinosaurs into the real world! Dan uses the scientific method to gather clues and solve mysteries.  There are 4 action-packed adventures full of discovery:

He Shoots, He Roars:
Dan figures out how to prove if dinosaurs were warm-blooded from Jim the reptile lizard and his puppet Denny the Dromaeosaurus.

Bones in the Backyard:
When Trek and Tristan find a bone in the schoolyard, Dan uses a paper-mache skull in Mrs. Hahn’s art class to figure out if it came from the Stygimoloch.

Active Imagination
When a T-Rex backs down from a Triceratops, Dan learns that the T-Rex is a hunter AND a scavenger!

To Flee or Not to Flee
A substitute teacher encourages Dan and his classmates to engage in dinosaur role-playing.

The special feature is Mighty Machines: Ride the Mountain Rails!
Work Trail is busy keeping the tracks in good shape.  It takes the power of three engines to get up the sharp includes and over the pass.  These machines are a special hardy breed, made for the mountain rails.

For a fun activity before or after taking your kids to see this movie there is a free printable coloring sheet available here.

Kidtoons movies can be seen every Saturday and Sunday at 11:50 a.m. at Carmike Theaters in Maryville. The great thing about Kidtoons movies is that everyone there is with a child, so you don’t have to worry about keeping your kids quiet (relatively speaking, of course.)

Kidtoons is allowing me to give a Dino Dan Prize Pack to one of you! It includes the following:

  • One Dino Dan: Dino Trackers DVD
  • One Dino Dan theatrical poster

Here’s how to win.

Required Entry:

Leave a comment on this post and let me know if you’ve ever been to a Kidtoons movie. (If you’re reading this on Facebook/Twitter hop on over to thriftychristy.com)

Additional Optional Entries:

You can do each of the following things for an additional entry in the giveaway. You can only do each of these once, for a possible total of 6 entries. Please leave a separate comment for each method of entry. If you only leave one comment then you only have one entry, as each comment is numbered and I randomly choose a number. Make sense?

This giveaway ends at midnight EST on Thursday January 26. I will choose a winner on Friday January 27 using random.org and will contact them via email. Giveaway open to US readers only.
