Count your blessings and share your wealth

December 24, 2011

The quickest way to forget your troubles is to count your blessings. As Americans, even those who are struggling financially are among the richest in the world. Not convinced? Check the Global Rich List.

Here are some statistics I ran across recently and wanted to share with you all. It’s a reminder that although it’s good to provide for your family, we also should consider using our resources to help those who are less fortunate.

  • Annual U.S. spending on cosmetics: $8 billion
  • Basic education for all global children: $6 million
  • Annual U.S. and European spending on perfume: $12 billion
  • Clean water for all global citizens: $9 billion
  • Annual U.S. and European spending on pet food: $17 billion
  • Reproductive health for all women: $12 billion
