Ripley’s attractions offer free admission for teacher appreciation days; also Ripley’s Aquarium homeschool pricing & programs

Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies

September 24 – 25 are Teacher Appreciation Days at Ripley’s attractions in Gatlinburg, and all teachers (plus one guest) receive free admission! Here’s more info on Teacher Appreciation Days. My mother-in-law is a teacher, we went last year. It was fantastic!

Also, did you know that all Gatlinburg Ripley’s Attractions offer a homeschool rate? To receive the homeschool rate you must present a homeschool group membership card or an attendance record for each student. Here in Blount County one that would qualify is the Blount Home Education Association.

The Ripley’s homeschool rate is valid for the homeschool student(s) and accompanying parent(s). In addition to the homeschool rate, Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies offers a monthly program designed for homeschoolers.

Free canvas print of a favorite photo from Canvas People, through midnight tonight

I love canvas photographs. They’re such a classic way to display favorite photos, and I just love the ones I have hanging on my wall. I never pay full price for them though, as there are always deals to be found. Here’s one that’s good through midnight tonight 8/31: you can get a free 8 x 10 canvas or a $50 credit toward another size from Canvas People. You do have to pay shipping.

This would make a really great Christmas present. If you haven’t started thinking about Christmas presents yet, you should. I highly recommend getting them taken care of early so you can sit back and enjoy the Christmas season!

Here are two of the canvases I’ve had made:

Get a $12 Fandango movie ticket for $6 via Screaming Daily Deals

You can get Fandango movie tickets for $6 each today ($12 value) on the website Screaming Daily Deals You can purchase a maximum of two, which I did. I found this deal under “All National Deals,” but if you have any trouble under that “location” then choose Chicago Suburbs.

Make sure your local theater accepts Fandango vouchers before you buy. Here in Maryville I use Fandango all the time to get tickets for our Carmike Cinemas.

Thanks, Money Saving Mom!

KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixers just $195.99, was $350!

Amazon has KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixers marked down as low as $225.99, which is a pretty great price for this product, seeing as retail price was $349.99. (Prices vary by color.) Better yet, there’s a $30 rebate available here, bringing your price down to $195.99. If you’ve been in the market for one of these mixers you may want to take advantage of this deal and then put it in your closet and give it to yourself (or your husband/wife/son/daughter) for Christmas! I always buy Christmas presents way in advance.

I’m going to see if I can convince my husband that I need a red stand mixer for my Christmas present this year. We have a “chicken-and-egg” argument about these. He says I don’t need one because I don’t cook/bake, and I say I might cook/bake if I had one. There’s really only one way to see who’s right, don’t you think? 🙂

Library storytime is back for September! Plus other free goings-on at the Blount County Library

The Blount County Public Library will resume their children’s programs starting Sept. 1 (after having taken August off for planning). There are also some new programs on the schedule.

Starting Monday, Sept.19 at 6:30 pm., Regina Greene will be doing Amigos Spanish Story Hour. This will be offered every other Monday evening.

Starting this Thursday Sept. 1 the library staff and volunteers will begin offering Adventures in Imagination, a read-aloud time for children in elementary grades. This will be an informal time to read aloud chapter books with the goal of encouraging kids to experience the fun of children’s classics, as well as a variety of book series. This program will be every Thursday from 4:00-4:30 pm. This is just another great opportunity to expose your kids to reading aloud, which is somthing I put a lot of value on personally!

The regular events that will be resuming are Preschool Story Times on Tuesday/Friday mornings at 10:00 and Toddler Story Hour at 10:00 on Wednesdays. We try to go every Tuesday, and my girls always have a great time!

Mamapedia deal: Dave Ramsey audio story for kids and cash flow planning workshop for $1 total

We love Dave Ramsey at our house, so I wanted to share this deal with you.

Mamapedia has two Dave Ramsey audio downloads for just $1: one for you and one for your kids. The Cash Flow Planning dowload is great, but you really can get that kind of thing for free by subscribing to the Dave Ramsey show on iTunes. It’s the story for kids – The Super Red Racer – that I’m excited about! We have a couple of Dave’s kids books and they’re great at explaning good sense with money to children. At $1, this story is a great deal, and you can just think of the cash flow planning as gravy.

CafeMom: giveaway for Britax car seat, travel bag & travel cart (value $469.97!)

I love my Britax car seats. They’re super cute and really safe, but they’re also quite expensive, so I like to share giveaways for Britax car seats when I find them! There’s a new giveaway on CafeMom through Sept. 2 for one of two Britax prize packs, which consist of a Britax Boulevard car seat, a car seat travel bag, and a car seat travel cart. The value of this set is $469.97!  You do have to sign up for CafeMom (but it’s free) and then you’ll find this giveaway easily by searching for the word Britax. To enter you simply have to reply to the giveaway post with an answer to the question, “What do you look for when selecting a car seat?”

Even if you’re not in the market for a car seat yourself, think of what a great shower gift this would make!

Thanks, Time2Save Workshops!

Nutella and Disney vitamin coupons on Redplum

Redplum has a number of new printable coupons available here. Two I’d make sure to print are the $1/1 Nutella coupon (Nutella coupons are rare!) and the $2/1 Disney vitamin coupon. Use two coupons for Disney vitamins at Kroger where they’re BOGO this month and they’ll both be $0.49!

Thanks, Southern Savers!
