Grand opening of Michaels store in Hunter’s Crossing tomorrow, plus promos all week

Are you a Michaels fan? We have a new Michaels store opening at 111 Hamilton Crossing Drive in Alcoa, which will be fun, since Michaels has some great coupons. My mom used to take me to Michaels for their free craft classes when I was a kid. Somewhere I still have a rockin’ Batman sweatshirt I masterfully created with neon puff paint. (It was the 80s, so nothing was cooler than neon puff paint.)

Anyway, Michaels’ grand opening in the Hamilton Crossing shopping center will be Sunday the 31st. If you’re wild for tote bags then you’ll want to go to your church’s early service, and then head to the store, because the first 200 customers at 10:00 am will receive a free tote bag.

Or, skip the tote bag and head in that afternoon, because there will be several family-friendly events all day, including a prize wheel, craft demonstrations, a free Crayola craft for kids and other fun things. There will be giveaways, too, including a including a Cricut machine giveaway. I know some of you have really been wanting a Cricut!

Michaels will also be hosting daily giveaways for the entire week following the grand opening (6/8-6/13).

Sunday Coupon Preview for July 31

This Sunday there will be three (maybe FOUR!) inserts in your newspaper! I’m really excited about this!

You should receive a Smart Source, one Red Plum (maybe two!) and a Proctor & Gamble. Here’s a list of all the coupons you can expect to find in these inserts; remember they can vary by type and amount depending on where you live and what paper you purchase.

Thrift Store next to Alcoa Kroger?

Have any of you been to the new thrift store next to the Alcoa Kroger? I took this photo from my car so you could see which store I’m referring to. It just says Thrift Store with no mention of a charity attached, but they take donations, so I was curious. If you have been there, do you know what charity it supports?

Visiting this store is on my list of things to do, but it’s a long list and I’m not sure when we’ll get by there. I’d love to hear someone else’s experience.

EMBC Kids Consignment Sale August 26-27

East Maryville Baptist Church is having its Kids Consignment Sale August 26-27. This sale is for Fall/Winter clothing, plus books, toys, baby equipment, and more. This is one of the ones I consign in. (I consign in four (sometimes five) sales, mainly because I have the same number in each and they use the same tags.)

For more information visit their Facebook event site or email embc.consignmentsale@yahoo.com.

Tell Your Time: a great book, on clearance sale for $2 through Sunday

I’ve been meaning to recommend the book Tell Your Time, by Amy Lynn Andrews, to you all for quite a while now. I first read about it on Money Saving Mom, and she highly recommended it, as did Coupon Katie.

It’s a really quick read, but it gives you some amazing info on how to manage your days, instead of letting your days manage you. I bought it when it was on sale, marked down from $12 to $9. But now you can purchase it for the clearance price of $2! I cannot stress enough what a great deal this is; the clearance price is due to the fact that there’s a new edition coming out August 1, so that may be when the price goes back up. So you have until Sunday to get this book for $2. (It’s an e-book, so you can download it to your computer.)

Here’s a brief description of Tell Your Time:

What if you could change your life in less than 30 pages?

(And for the price of a few fancy coffees?)

Tell Your Time: How To Manage Your Schedule So You Can Live Fulfilled outlines a straightforward, step-by-step approach to controlling your schedule and ensuring the important things don’t fall through the cracks.

Tell Your Time helps you accomplish not only what’s on your to-do list today, but what’s on your to-do list for life.

Go here to purchase Tell Your Time, by Amy Lynn Andrews, and enter code 2BUCKS at checkout.

Fun birthday things: a present, free McAlister’s tea, more

Check out what my husband got me for my birthday:

It’s a framed copy of my first article in the Blount Today. Isn’t that sweet?

So what birthday freebies are your favorites? I’ll be heading to McAlister’s for free tea today, but that just happened to fall on my birthday. I’m thinking Aubrey’s, maybe, since they give you a free birthday dessert. What other places in Blount County give you birthday freebies?

Also, apparently Swagbucks gives you 50 “bucks” for your birthday. Isn’t that nice?
