The Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge – a really cool place to take your family
April 15, 2011

The Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge just announced that they’re offering new audio tours; they have one for adults and one specifically for kids ages 5 & up.
If you haven’t been, this could be a really fun part of your summer staycation. My girls are constantly asking to go back to the “Titanic boat.” I wrote about our last trip for my previous blog, and I’m copying that post below for those of you who would like to read it.
We had the incredible experience last night of touring the Titanic Attraction’s Winter Wonderland. If you’ve never been, the Titanic Attraction is a 1/2 size replica of the Titanic that has been built in Pigeon Forge. It’s absolutely amazing! The lovely people at the Titanic Attraction were kind enough to open their museum to members of the local blogging community so that we could see everything they have planned for the Christmas season. The boat is decorated Edwardian-style for Christmas. It’s a museum, and they have a number of real artifacts from the Titanic as part of their collection. There are also staff members dressed in character throughout the boat to give you mini history lessons as you go. I was really impressed with the depth of their knowledge!
This might be a really good field trip for homeschooling moms. I will say, though, that it was rough with a 3- and 1-year-old. Next time I’ll definitely leave the baby at home, although she enjoyed climbing on things. My 3-year-old had a really great time, but I’m the kind of person who wants to stop and read every caption, and I didn’t get to do any of that. There is a kids area near the end that they both really enjoyed, as well as an underseas exploration area that was a big hit. I think this is intended for kids ages 5 and up, and for that age group it would be fantastic.
If you’re planning to go, make sure you purchase tickets ahead of time as they sell out quickly.
